Executive Bios — Forrest Colliver
Forrest Colliver was appointed Vice President of Business Development at EMS SATCOM, the satellite communications division of EMS Technologies, Inc. in June of 2008.
As Vice President of Business Development, Colliver is responsible for leading EMS SATCOM’s strategic initiatives, the company’s partner programs and marketing.
Colliver’s career in aeronautical communications spans more than 20 years. Prior to joining EMS SATCOM he was Director of Business Development, Commercial Aircraft Solutions at Thales Aerospace, a global supplier of onboard electronics for civil and military aircraft. In this role, he defined new product strategy and developed new business opportunities. As Director of Product Strategy before that, he was responsible for directing the strategy for in in-flight entertainment, cabin information systems, and in-flight communications systems that feature Internet, wireless telephony and SMS services. Before joining Thales, he spent seven years with Sofréavia, a French aerospace consultancy as project manager for several European Air Traffic Management research and development projects.
Colliver possesses a deep background in aerospace and technology with experience ranging from Air Traffic Management and in-flight entertainment, to regulatory issues.
Early in his career he worked on the ARINC 741 and other standards while at MITRE Corp., a Virginia-based not-for-profit national resource that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the U.S. government. He represented the FAA on technical matters at ICAO, RTCA/EUROCAE and AEEC Forums.
Colliver holds both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as well as an MBA from East Tennessee State University.
