As vice president of Strategic Initiatives at EMS Technologies, Inc. Nils Helle holds management responsibilities for mergers and acquisitions activities. He reports to Paul Domorski, the company’s president and CEO.

Helle was the lead member of the EMS team that finalized the acquisition of Ottercom, UK; DSpace, Australia; Akerstroms Trux, Sweden; and most recently, Sky Connect, based in Takoma Park, Maryland.

He joined EMS SATCOM in 2001 and was responsible for overseeing the integration of the Ottercom acquisition and then building the division’s marketing team. He has since focused his efforts on business development and acquisitions for EMS Technologies.

Early in his career, Helle was a communications officer in the Merchant Navy, trading worldwide. He worked with Stratos Global, a leading global provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions, for 12 years and was part of the team that built the company from $2 million in 1989 to $350 million in 2001. While at Stratos, he held a variety of senior positions, including, VP of strategic initiatives with a focus on acquisitions, where he was a key member of a team that completed nine deals.

A 35-year veteran in the communications field, Helle has a unique background combined with business acumen. As a general manager of an oilfield service company for five years, he oversaw the provision of off-shore communications systems and personnel. Having conducted more than 20 due-diligence operations and developed a number of transition and integration plans, he is uniquely positioned with a deep technical knowledge and senior business experience.
